Do some video games make children aggresive?

First person shooter's are the game of today. It all started in 1998 with the release of half life. Ever since then first person shooter's have dominated today's market. It would seem as if today's lack of time is the biggest reason why FPS / first person shooters, are the main genre of our era. People don't have enough time to play 100 hour strategy games or games with a huge story-line because they do not have enough time to enjoy it. Also by human nature people are always seeking new adventure. The best way to be in a war without actually getting wounded or worse... is to experience them in video games. Speaking of natural tendencies, human's are also always competing. Everyone want's to be the top dog but so few can actually hold the spot. FPS are roller coaster's of thrill and adrenaline and that's another reason people get into them, because they see what the character sees. There is nothing worse then dying a bunch of time's without any kills and feeling the team's disappointment in you. First person shooter's are the video game's of today, upbeat and fast paced it can work with our daily lives.
Today i had a thought. There are plenty of other cool non violent video game's why are 1st person shooters the most popular? Just wanted to give you all something to ponder on. i will post later on after i research some about why 1st person shooter's are so popular.

Microsoft Kinect

It seam's as if Microsoft will be coming out with Kinect for PC.  Motion gaming has taken a huge step forward ever since the kinect has come out. Now people can mover and select thing's on the T.V. screen without a controller. I had the experience of experiencing the Kinect for Xbox 360 at my friend's house the other day. All i can say is that it didn't disappoint. By far it blew away the PS3's and wii's attempt at motion gaming. The kinect offer's fun family event's with up to two people playing at once. Go on adventures on a raft and race in the Amazon river. Jump, shift your weight, and move from side to side to avoid hazardous object if you way. Let me tell you the last thing you want is to run into a log while racing your friend. The playstation move is basically an upgraded version of the wii remote. And while it is an upgrade you still get caught doing repetitive non related movements to get your task accomplished. The playstation move offers another kind of game, it is more of a fighting, sportsy genre of game more ideal to the average gamer, but the kinect beat's the playstation move ten times over.

Your blog need's a lot of work. All you do is talk about one game over and over again. You could at least spread out you subject's and talk about thing's other then video game's. You link too much it's like you have to meet a quota or something. You should link to prove that your not talking with your head up your ass, not to re inform everyone what call of duty is this is something assumed that is not of relevance to the subject, it is just spam in a way and makes it less enjoyable to read. Sometimes you have nothing to prove, but you link anyway, ignore this weird quota you have for linking, if you want a successful blog link when necessary and keep it to a minimum. You have to be a teenager and still learning, but at least look at other people's blog's before you create your own. I know you will get better you can't get any lower then you are right now. Please re think your blog and loosen up the subject's. Here's some suggestion's if you have to talk about video game's. Why don't you talk about Kinect, or motion gaming. Or something new in the field of gaming. You did that with your Half-Life post but you never took advantage of that opened door into a new subject.

Hey Apapai, you have a really special blog here. It seem's all blog's are either incredible fact site's or just some guy talking about his life. You've manage to tie them together and create a wonderful blog. Your mind seam's to be narrow though, you haven't talked much about anything other then that one CoD. I like your insight. It would be nice if you could apply it to other everyday situation's. You have a special talent for blogging and i always get a kick out of reading your blog's.

I like some of your post tool. You have some good stuff in their, but it could also use some... how do i say this... refining. You should talk more about other video game's other then Call Of Duty. Talk some about quickhit. Overall though your blog is swagg.

Your blog's pretty good. I think that video game's do have an overall negative effect on the population though. If you think about it, almost  every kid nowadays has access to the internet. That means every kid has access to video games. Since about the 1980's Kid's have been reading less and less and playing video games more and more. It's now at a point where the less then half of the entirety of the U.S. read's for pleasure now. A large part of this is due to children not reading anymore because they are on facebook or playing video games. Also since the 80's the U.S. education system has decreased from the  number one in the world to 17. I think their is a direct link between video game's and education. Also school shooting haven't really been influenced by video games. The biggest massacre's happened before video game's ever existed. Video game's like CoD, Half-Life, and other gory video game's might make kid's more aggressive but it doesn't make them lose track of reality and go on a killing spree. Overall i think you blog is funny and correct. You seem to prove these examples through your stories.
Call Of duty is a fun game don't get me wrong, but today i want to hear from you guys. What are your favorite PS3 or PC video games? Why are they your favorite games? Are you more of a person who appreciates the smaller thing that add up? Or do you appreciate the larger thing's and don't care about small things. Are you into plot's and storylines like assassin's creed? or are you in to ripping people's head's of in game's like god of war. Or are you into games that aren't about blood and gore like Gran Turismo. Send an email to apapai@live.com

The other day i got my father to play Half-Life against me, effectively ending any resistance from my dad about violent video game's having a bad effect on me. It wasn't he who gave me the problem's about it in the first place but he never really helped me either. Now hopefully i will have an ally when my mom messes with me when i have friends over or help out with the overall disapproval of the video game's.  We had a blast playing each other, unfortunately he had to take it off of his computer because he thought it made the computer crash. Half-Life is one of those early controversial video game's that caught heat after the Jonesboro massacre and later on the Columbine massacre, although it didn't catch nearly as much heat as Grand theft Auto or Doom. The series is a very successful raising the bar for all first person shooter's. Valve really paved the way for all to come, they truly changed video games forever. To anyone good with computer's if you could explain to me why the computer crashed i could start playing my dad again and that would be ton's of fun. The video game to my right is a program that the army uses to train their soldier's for quite a few different things. It's used to simulate real combat situation's, It's used to help soldier's out with their aim, and it helps people to  It's the video game that every boy wishes they had. Something so realistic it is used by the U.S. Army to train their troops! The guns that they are holding have to be reloaded, have safety's and the flash light even works! Their is no video game that can come place to comparing to this. But even these types of video game's take a long term exposure to train people how to kill, and this is just part of a whole program used to teach soldiers how to kill. This also has a defined bad guy, and penalties for shooting the innocent. Gun safety is also practiced to prevent an inexperienced person with a firearm from accidentally injuring someone. This video game the most expensive, real, potent game that exist on it's own is still not enough to get a child to become a killer. I can assure you i will bring this up the next time i'm in an argument about video games.
Over the weekend i met up with a friend who was anti CoD. We had an argument about weather or not video games affected people to the point where they would go on a massacre. I brought up that while they do seem to make people more aggressive, it's not enough to make someone shoot up a school. He countered with some media supported BS about how other massacre's were by nerd's that were enveloped by video games. I tried bringing up that those nerd's also had the majority of their problem's at home with their family or a mental illness that would lead to kid's to do such horrible things. But he kept cutting me off about how study's have shown that kid's are much more aggressive after video games. I had no room to argue at that point, but i could definitely argue that as a gamer i have never taken my physical aggression out on other people within 5 minutes of me playing a violent video game. I tried arguing my point but apparently i was not enough of a no lifer to have major effects happen on me.  No one got anywhere and we changed the subject.

After googling random things today in class i came upon an interesting article. What so interesting about this article? It's about video games. After letting it sit i thought this article could hold some truth... After awhile of getting into a game i get more and more angry about when i die before a kill streak, and eventually if i die at all. I have put a dent in my metal garbage can more then once.  It seems like the more i play CoD the more yelling and me getting pissed happens. Yeah it get's intense but it's just a game nothing to get super upset about, but when i'm in the zone it's a little bit harder for me to tell myself this and just chill. Eventually a few minuets after i play i calm down to a PC/Pre Call of Duty mode. My dad has had to come up and calm me down a few times because i was either stomping, yelling, or beating up my brother, their is no need to tell you that Call of Duty gets intense.  It's ironic i'd read this article after I, and some friends, confirmed we would have a Call of Duty marathon tonight. I just thought i should share this with you all. This won't stop or even slow down my CoD, watch out garbage can here i come!

What are you doing?

Today i was looking up how to raise my kill to death ratio in chemistry. My teacher checked my screen and gave me the strangest look of "are you crazy? what is that? and i am a little afraid of you." mashed into one funny face. I had to explain my self, that it was for a school project, still unconvinced i assured him I wasn't going to go on a killing spree. I told him it was for a video game and that it was part of a school project. He then just continued on. Hahah, i love my teacher's.

A question raised

After my other post i just thought. No lifer's that camp and own people really get to me.  The game isn't designed for one player to just sit their and wait for people. This takes away from the games design of an on your feet adrenaline pumping hardcore team game. What do you guys think? Are campers just a part of the game or a thorn in everyone's side. check out the poll to the right to vote. Also for some strange reason the question for the poll at the top isn't showing it should be labeled "Do you think violent video games lead to violent children."

K/D

So the other day the subject of kill to death ration came up. I talked about my .93 K/D ratio and then all the sudden i was considered a noob. I wasn't going to let my K/D ratio stay under 1, i had to change it. So the no life period began, i was constantly on massive private friend lobby's with 300 kill games for hardcore gamers after the match i checked and was at  .98 K/D. So i start playing on another long match and my dad comes comes in and takes  the T.V. power cord "Alex youv'e been on that long enough".  WTF? By the time i could get the cable and plug it back in i was booted out of the lobby. i checked the last game's stats and i had died 70 something times, we don't mess around. This dropped me down to .94 K/D Thanks dad. wish parent's could chill out sometimes. I mean i understand their are some kid's that honestly don't have a life and just play COD. That's not me though. If anything, this push has helped me get my homework and projects done on time. Instead of the usual last minuter that i am, I've been getting thing's knocked out as soon as I've gotten home. Not just school related work but chores and personal things too. This game has been a positive influence in my life by giving me something to do, which then prevents procrastination.

The bullet that started it all

For me it all started when i was a little boy. I remember it vividly... My parents had gotten home from work one busy day. When my father got home he needed to relax so he sat down and turned on the T.V.,i always sat next to him,  headlining the news for the day and a while after that was the Columbine Massacre. My dad called my mom in and she was horrified. My parents then started worrying about my safety and taking precautionary measures. It seemed like everyone was trying to figure out why the 2 boy's went on a rampage. Well after a while a theory came out as to why the boys did this. Violent video games. I also remember quite clearly my parents taking away my Grand Theft Auto video game and monitoring my time on the video games. I wasn't a kid who never got out, on the contrary I spent quite a bit of time outside. They have been adamant ever sine then to not buy me any video games above the rating M. Now i know that they were just trying to protect me and raise me well, but as a 16 year old i would at least like to woop my friends at COD without my mom nagging me about "Those video games aren't good for you!" or "Alex are you playing that game with all the killing again?". It get's to be a major drag.
